God Told Me To Write, Again

Hi. My name is Brenna Stanford and I am a writer.

I am a wife.

I am a mother.

I am a business owner.

I am a community member.

I am a friend.

More than all of those, I am a Christian.

In May 2021, I was at the height of what I thought would be my forever purpose in Empowered Motherhood. When our family circumstances took a sharp left turn. I was unprepared for it. I thought it wouldn't last. And it changed my life forever.

I haven't really written anything since then.

My own journals. Some facebook posts. But nothing of substance.

In July 2026, our life took yet another turn, but this time it felt more like a merging back into the route.

God had been telling me for a while to start writing again. I of course argued all the reasons I couldn't. But it got too heavy to continue arguing and carrying. So here we are.

I can't tell you anything more than this.

So stick around and let's see what happens.

Appreciating the Waves: A reflection on music and healing.

As I have healed I’ve been able to listen to music as it is without being pulled into it. What was an immersion isn't anymore. Instead, I stand on the shore seeing the music, seeing the waves, and appreciating them.

To Have An Opinion & The Grapes of Wrath

I started writing again because I realized I had stopped forming opinions. Somewhere in survival mode, critical thinking had gotten quiet. Reading The Grapes of Wrath is helping me find that part of myself again, and ask some bigger questions along the way.

What is Intentional Living

What if intentional living isn’t choosing between being present and planning for the future? Maybe it’s both. Maybe it’s learning to live in the tension; grateful for where you are, open to where God is leading, and aware that some seasons will pull you closer to one side than the other. That, for me, is intentional living.
